General Overview

At an intermediate level, analyzes environmental data and administers environmental programs.  Participates in assessment of programs, incident investigations and in research, development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures.  Gathers and analyzes environmental data.  Maintains records and prepares reports.  This position utilizes knowledge and experience in own discipline but is still building higher-level knowledge and skills.  Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to determine an appropriate approach within general parameters and some guidance from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues. 

  • Provides environmental consultation and serves as an environmental resource for LCRA staff.  Interprets regulatory requirements and develops and implements procedures to ensure compliance and to manage impacts to environmental and operational activities.  Prepares and presents environmental training topics to internal staff. 
  • Gathers, analyzes, documents and tracks environmental data.  Analyzes trends and develops solutions.
  • Prepares moderately complex reports and participates in group reporting activities.  Evaluates facilities’ environmental recordkeeping activities and practices and develops solutions to ensure compliance.  Prepares and participates in developing communication materials.
  • Performs moderately complex site assessments, including environmental impact and risk assessments of current and proposed facility operations and activities.  Performs moderately complex environmental inspections, audits and incident investigations.  Develops cost proposals for environmental site assessment, sampling and remediation.  Reviews plans, issues permits, inspects construction sites and responds to complaints.
  • Participates in the research, development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures.
  • Provides expertise in project planning related to environmental issues.  Prepares environmental plans for LCRA projects. 
  • Responds to environmental emergencies by participating in clean up events and providing assistance to other departments as needed. 
  • Communicates with regulatory agencies as necessary.  Attends public meetings to provide information to interested parties.  Performs public outreach by giving presentations at schools, various civic events and for other interested groups.
  • Performs work by traveling independently or with other staff to various, sometimes remote locations (substations, transmission line rights-of-way, power plants, water systems, etc.) as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications

Six or more years of experience in assessment, interpretation, implementation or administration of environmental regulations, programs or policies, including experience with preparing technical reports and communicating with regulatory agencies.  A degree(s) in environmental science, chemistry, wildlife biology, geology, ecological management, conservation science, business, engineering, risk management or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

We are expecting to find an experienced Environmental Coordinator with multi-media knowledge (air-water-waste). 


However, a candidate with strong air compliance, CEMS, and CEMS software (Teledyne and/or B&W) knowledge is preferable.
