General Overview

Preferred candidate will have:

  • Class A CDL
  • Located within 45 min of Marble Falls
  • climbing experience 

 

Assists journey-level personnel from the ground in the construction and/or maintenance and repair of transmission lines. Learns more advanced tasks associated with high line work. 

  • Assists more experienced employees in performing work on transmission power lines, rights of way, transmission steel structure foundation installations, and with site preparation.
  • Assists in operation and maintenance of equipment such as bucket trucks, boom trucks, winch trucks, etc. used in performing aerial work.
  • Prepares and transports equipment and material for daily projects.
  • Responds to emergency and other call-out situations as required.
  • Learns to perform aerial work.  Climbs wood and steel transmission structures to extreme heights using proper safety equipment.
  • Participates in training to gain greater knowledge and experience of procedures, tool use, and equipment operation associated with high line work.
  • Learns and follows all safety, environmental and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs work by traveling with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, transmission lines, etc.) as scheduled. 
  • May perform or focus on ground/office duties that assist the supervisors and crew members.

Performs routine tasks in the construction and/or maintenance and repair of transmission lines.  
 

  • Performs routine and standard tasks associated with all aspects of the construction or maintenance and repair of transmission lines (e.g. overhaul and inspection of lines and installing lines).
  • Operates and maintains equipment such as bucket trucks, boom trucks, winch trucks, etc. used in performing aerial work.
  • Participates in training to gain greater knowledge and experience of procedures, tool use, and equipment operation.
  • Performs live-line maintenance with hot-sticks on energized transmission lines.
  • Prepares equipment and material for daily projects.
  • Assists the supervisor and other crew members with planning and performing jobs.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Climbs wood and steel transmission structures to extreme heights using proper safety equipment. 
  • Follows all safety, environmental and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, transmission lines, etc.) as scheduled.

Minimum Qualifications

Zero or more years of experience in transmission and/or distribution line construction and/or maintenance work or related field involving work at heights.
