  • General Overview

    At a senior level, the Solution Architect Sr. operates within Digital Architecture to facilitate cooperation across the business and technical organizations to drive common approaches. Assists in the development and implementation of the strategy and innovation that serve existing and future enterprise architecture business needs. Demonstrates the ability to communicate across multiple layers of the organization and within the context of differing technical, regulatory and business oriented disciplines. Facilitates competing interests to arrive at the most favorable IT solutions balancing cost, functionality, security and supportability. Works at the highest level in order to maintain an enterprise architecture framework in which business and IT can drive each other. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services. Takes a new perspective to solve complex problems. Works independently and receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May direct the work of other staff members.

    • Designs and documents standards for the full technology stack in a published enterprise architecture for use in LCRA’s environment.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of strategies, in alignment with the Dir, Digital Architecture, for technology standards across the company.
    • Provides expertise in the development of architectural governance, standards, design patterns, security approach, and IT practices.
    • Follows technology trends and new markets, making recommendations for technology shifts when appropriate; oversight in assessment of new technologies and proof of concepts.
    • Cultivates beneficial relationships and collaborates with internal and external partners.
    • Participates in annual budgeting process for enterprise technology needs.
    • Assists in developing and maintaining an inventory of technology in use at LCRA.
    • Serves on Architectural Review Board consisting of technologists from across the company.
    • Contributes to the overall strategy, architecture and process improvements for software.
    • Collaborates with others on the overall strategy, architecture and process improvements for the infrastructure and for operational technology.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Ten or more years of experience in multiple IT areas, including two or more years of experience in enterprise-wide architecture in one or more specialty areas. A degree(s) in computer science, information technology or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or mathematics.
    • Experience as part of an Enterprise Architecture governance team
    • Expert knowledge of software and middleware, including but not limited to, development frameworks, client technology, database solutions, middleware, messaging backbones and enterprise integration patterns
    • Knowledge of infrastructure, including but not limited to, networking, operating systems, servers, and data centers
    • Knowledge of industry best practices in the various aspects of IT, technology trends, security considerations, enterprise operations knowledge and the ability to develop solutions to implement key business strategies
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with technical organizations and management teams
    • Industry certifications regarding Enterprise Architecture concepts, tools, and practices preferred
    • Control systems experience preferred
    • Utilities experience preferred
