    General Overview

    This position is on the Asset Accounting team within the Accounting Department.

    At an entry level, performs financial accounting and reporting activities for all entities mainly related to asset sub-ledger and general ledger accounting and capital business processes.  Researches and ensures compliance with various regulatory requirements and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.  Prepares asset accounting reports following prescribed format and requirements. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.

    -Heavily assists in preparation, validation, recording and reviewing of asset records on the sub-ledger and the general ledger.
    - Prepares reconciliations and other periodic analysis of accounts; researches financial records to resolve problems.
    - Prepares basic to moderately complex detailed schedules and work papers, journal entries and general ledger account and/or sub-ledger reconciliations and intercompany account reconciliations.
    - Maintains the general ledger accounts.
    - Performs sub-ledger system account maintenance.  Ensures asset records are in compliance with active assets.
    - Performs fluctuation analysis of financial statement variances.  Prepares monthly financial and management reports related to asset accounting.  Prepares audit work papers specific to asset accounting.
    - Maintains and updates separate financial records and prepares financial and management reports for non-profit organizations associated with LCRA.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Four or more years of experience in accounting with at least 60 hours of college credit including intermediate accounting I and II. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in business or economics including intermediate accounting I and II can substitute for years of experience.

    - Knowledge of advanced accounting principles
    - Knowledge of accounting/financial systems
    - Knowledge of PeopleSoft or similar accounting software
    - Knowledge of internal control concepts and applications
    - Knowledge of the applicability of accounting principles to complex and varied business situations
    - Skill in analyzing and solving complex problems
    - Skill in verbal and written communication
    - Skill in explaining accounting treatments in a variety of business situations
    - Skill in applying accounting concepts and principles into practical business solutions
    - Skill in meeting deadlines
    - Intermediate skill level in office productivity applications (such as email and word processing)
    - Advanced skill level in spreadsheet applications (MS Excel)
    - Ability to balance and manage competing high priority work demands
    - Ability to build relationships and foster teamwork
    - Ability to work in a team environment
    - Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Work Environment

    - Work hours are spent in an office environment
    - Work sometimes involves weekends, holidays and non-standard hours

    Physical Demands

    - Work involves constant finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard and mouse
